Desert Dash Rally

A few Saturdays ago Rory and I went to the Burns car show. It consisted of about ten cars. But it was still fun. The top one was Rory's favorite because it had a face. My favorite was the nice red one. I could handle driving that around town. I don't know what was up with the stuffed horse in front of it....

Our Own Special Scottish Festivus

It's a festivus miracle! On the same day the family went to their Scottish Festival in Jackson (without us) we had a festival of our own! This biker dude showed up in a kilt so of course I had to take a picture! I though about doing a jig.

More Friends!

Here's another update on the crazy wildlife around our house. Yes, that is a huge spider and it lives on our front porch. Needless to say I hate going outside when I think about it. The bottom picture is of our doomed little baby bird. He fell out of his nest and was really sad about it. He cheeped and cheeped and cheeped. I think the snake got him. But maybe his mom did because she was in the tree next to him being very distraught. I like the idea that his mom helped him much better than that icky snake. Maybe the spider got him. It's big enough to.

Kiger Gorge

This week at work we "camped" at Fred Ottley's cabin so we could do some aspen stand work in the Kiger Gorge. This is The Big camping trip we've been hearing about all season. Every day we hiked down this gorge and then hiked around down at the bottom all day and then hiked up it at the end of the day. The pictures don't do it justice. This was a steep canyon! My legs felt like jelly by the time I got down it on the first day. But it was a great trip. The area was gorgeous and we had dark clouds rolling over every morning so it made everything even prettier. And we got to sleep on a bed!
Taking a break after work so we can hike back up the gorge.
Apparently it's tradition for the crew to ride in the back of the truck while we drive to Kiger so Rory, Aleta, and I did. This is us being really happy to be headed back to the cabin we stayed in.

After a long morning of work lunch is heaven. We get to sit in the shade and drink water! Well, and eat. This is our boss Jon. He's a master cat nap taker and hikes like a robot.
At the end of our last day at Kiger Rory and Aleta went fishing while the rest of us hiked out.

Ok Dad, you said you didn't believe me about the bull with the hole in its side... I've got documentation. This is a real live picture of Pincushion. He lives in our back yard. And he smells NASTY!!!!!
This is what we do at work when our bosses have no plans for us. We make cows! Even though this one doesn't really look like a cow... it needs ears.

We went white water rafting last month with Rory's mom and Kathleen. I'm finally getting around to putting the pictures up. It was lots and lots of fun though! Here we are just starting the rapids. The two little kids in front were really funny. I think I hit the little girl in the head with my paddle when we were going through but she didn't seem to notice.

Going through the rapids.

There's been a lot of fires starting up around our house lately. The helicopter in the picture is actually landing on the Burns air field. Hopefully the fires don't come any closer!
We decided to go to the Malhuer cave today. The guy on the left is Jeremy. He's a co-worker of ours who leads a very lonely life in the bunkhouse. He needed something to do so we brought him along. The cave was really neat! It was huge inside! It had bleachers too... don't know what those were for. Maybe a horse show or something? At the end of the cave there was a big lake. It wouldn't been cool to bring a boat or something and see how far back the lake went.

Here's Rory in the cave. The first picture has a flash and I got all the little water droplets in the air to sparkle. The second picture was on night mode and Rory bent over as I took the picture so now there's a nice picture of Rory bending over in slow motion.

This is not the picture I wanted it to be! I'm so mad. But I couldn't get my camera out fast enough. The deer in this picture had just landed from a very embarassing fall. As we were driving down this little road/path we startled some deer and they started running toward the rock outcrop in the picture. The first deer made it just fine but the deer in the picture kind of did a belly flop onto the rocks and fell off. Poor thing. I only laughed a little bit.

After we got out of the cave we decided to go looking for where the water leaked out. The picture on top is the ravine the water goes through. It was kind of like mud lake. Lots and lots of plants in the water.
After all those pictures of Rory and Jeremy I decided I might as well get one of myself in.
I've seen Dad take shadow and reflection pictures and they inspired me to take one of my own. Here I am! On a cliff!
