Babies

Don't worry, I didn't have this baby or steal it. She's Kat's new little girl Adalynn. I was so happy to get to meet her. She's adorable! Newborns are so warm and cuddly. At least I think so. Maybe it's all the blankets they wear. Rory wouldn't hold her for fear of breaking her. It's crazy how many of my friends have recently had babies! I swear it's in the water.

New Home!

Since Rory got his new job we can finally afford to move out of mom and dad's house. I'm not sure who was happiest about that: Sam or us. We loved living with mom and dad but it sure is nice to have our own place again. And Sam's just plain happy to get his room back. Thank you so so much Grandpa and Grandma and Jake and Sara! (And Ruby) You guys were such good helpers! And, of course, a big huge thanks to mom and dad for letting us stay with you for a few months.
Our wonderful living room. This new apartment is so much bigger than our last one!
The entry way. We live in an attic.
Our weird little bathroom. It's the only room in the apartment that didn't get renovated. The retro toilet is kind of growing on me.
One of the best things about our new place is counter space!!!! Lots of it! No more cooking on the floor! And we have a teeny tiny portable dishwasher that we keep in the pantry.

So I married an ax murderer

Which one of us do you think it is?

Almost Tradition

Usually my family goes Christmas tree hunting the day after Thanksgiving. This year we did it the day after the day after Thanksgiving. I felt a little off. But we found a super cute little tree! After everyone had cut down their family's tree of choice the big kids got to go hookybobbing. It was a wild ride, but how could we expect otherwise with Uncle Brett behind the wheel? He slung us off a cliff and we nearly hit a tree, ran us through sage brush and over rocks, nearly rolled the truck, and to top it off we ran over Mark twice. I had a mouth full of sage brush and eyes full of snow by the end but I was laughing so hard! It was my cousins Mark and Kayla's first ever experience hookybobbing. Mark is from the D.C. area and Kayla's from Texas so they don't see too much snow. They said it was great. Even Mark had fun even though I'm pretty sure he's sporting some nice bruises now.

Moscow, ID

We went to Moscow, ID on Thursday to talk to professors. I think it went rather well. Campus is beautiful! It's all really old buildings with ivy and lots of trees. Rory's standing in front of the old dormatories.

Hooligans in Rexburg

Last night my car (Miron) had all his windows bashed in!!! Except his windshield which was almost bashed in. Hooligans!! In Rexburg! The police came out and said it was the fourth hate crime against Hondas that had been reported that morning. Apparently the hooligans went on a bashing spree. We were glad that they got Miron instead of Sheila (Rory's car), though, because we took a trip up to Moscow, ID today and that would have been nasty if all the windows were gone. It made me really sad. He might be dead if it's too expensive to replace the windows. He wasn't exactly under full insurance coverage. Poor guy. He's a 1990 with over 300,000 miles. It's been a good run. Rory says he's not dead yet. I hope so....

Trial Run

For everyone who doesn't know I am now re-re-unemployed. I have a lot of time on my hands so I've decided to 1. learn how to sew and 2. try my hand at photography. I've created a new blog: emilyoconnorphotography.blogspot.com. Sounds cooler than it is. So far I've basically gone through all my old photos and posted some of my favorites. From here on out they'll be fresh off the press... well, camera really. Feel free to tell me what you think. But only if you are thinking good things.

Halloween!

Rory and I were mad scientists! Rory looks especially mad in his picture. We hung out with Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf on Halloween. I think my favorite costume, though, was Elvis. Mostly because he was wearing squeaky plastic girl pants.

Misfortune Cookies

Mom made misfortune cookies for Halloween. Mine said 'this time they're not laughing with you'. Oh dear....

Two Scary Pictures

I think Rory and I might be about to die. We took these pictures on Tuesday after we'd been to the straw maze. If you look close you'll realize that Rory and I are transparent. The bottom picture even has some sort of ghosty thing coming out of us. Ummm... we love you all and if anyone wants anything of ours let us know soon so we can get it in the will.

Pumpkin Carving

I kind of loaded these out of order so you get to see the finished product before the beginning. Rory's pumpkin is the one on the bottom left. Yum yum!

Mine is supposed to be Snow White's poisoned apple. I think it needs a stem.

This is a classic 'Rory concentrating' picture. Sometimes he gets his tongue out too.

I was trying to get a good picture of me and my patient before I ripped his guts out but I have such a sweet brother that all the pictures ended up having him in it.

Working hard!

Halloween Earrings

I bought some fishing bobbers and made earrings out of them.

Bouncing off the walls

Rory set up climbing ropes on the chimney and we climbed. Except for the part where Rory let me down faster than I wanted to go. And then pulled me back up while I was on the phone. Haha.

Unemployed and Re-employed

Last week I was laid off my job at North Fork Native Plants because it was the end of the growing season. I've been sitting around since then wondering what to do with my life. Luckily I went to yoga with my mom on Thursday and saw Joanne Webster there. She mentioned that her husband Bart was looking for more potato workers because all the high school kids had to go back to school. That's when I decided my life's ambition was to be a potato sorter. So that's what I did. Except most of the time I run the piler. It's been great and I get to work with Laura sometimes! It's dusty.

Adam's Birthday

Adam's achieved double digit status! We had a great family party that included lots of pizza and yummy pumpkin empinadas from taco time. Ruby was there too and she was super cute! I tried to draw Darth Vader but it didn't turn out to well. He looks a little retarded. But it was a first attempt so I don't feel too bad.

Sheep Falls

We went on a very very small hike to Sheep Falls with Kathleen and her new boyfriend on Saturday. The falls were beautiful and Rory found a hole in the rocks which kept us all entertained for a while. There was snow on the ground! I'm not sure I'm ready for another six months of winter.

I think I missed it

On Saturday Laura, Jessie, and I went out to take pictures of the pretty fall colors that finally arrived. Today it snowed. I must have blinked or something because I think I missed fall.
