Picking Apples

We went up to Nebraska City this weekend to pick apples with the Birches. Unfortunately I got slightly lost so we actually only saw them at the orchard for a few minutes. Haha. That's ok, it was a fun mommy daughters date day. (Rory had to work).

Madelyn picked about 20 lbs all by herself. She loved it.

Nom.

There were some little ponies there that Madelyn just had to ride. She had the hugest grin on her face the whole time. Well worth the $5.

We also got apple doughnuts. De-lucious.

We did end up hanging out with Jake and Sara and girlies at their house but no pictures. Just fun.

Afternoon Walk

The weather is fiiiinnaallly cooling down. We're consistently in the mid 80's. It's nice for walking.

I pulled out my summer potted flowers and put in mums.

Waiting for mom to stop messing around with the mums.

We ended up at the botanical garden.

And happened to run into Daddy! He saw us from afar and came sneaking up.

Color Run and Konza

Can I just say.... I love the Color Run! I'm really excited I got to do it this year. I've wanted to for a while but have always been pregnant or moving. So I seized the carp this time and did it!

My running buddies Jana and Christina. Look how clean we are.

Excited to go!

And after. Not so clean anymore. Some guy got me right in the face with a squirt of blue. Thanks guy.

I especially liked my rainbow sweat!

After the run they throw this big party where everyone dances and throws color in the air and behaves like hooligans. Rory and the girlies were supposed to meet me there but poor Lily threw a fit and they didn't get to come. Madelyn was pretty sad about it. So we took a family trip out to Konza so she could hike and Rory could download some data.

If you look closely you can see Madelyn and Rory wading through the sea of grass.

Rory doing Science. (After he removed the mouse that was trying to make a home in his data logger.)

Lily is totally happy to be out in her back pack.

Exploring. It was a serious jungle for her. She couldn't see above the grass.

The division between annually burned grassland and grassland that's burned every four years.

Kisses for baby.

Madelyn cut herself on some grass and nearly had a meltdown but we were able to distract her. Phew!

Let's just say Rory is not going to get to pick Madelyn's prom outfits.

Sometimes Madelyn would lose sight of Rory while we followed him around and it kind of freaked her out. Luckily I'm a bit taller and always knew where he was. It was nice to get out and not die of heat. I'm so excited for Fall!!

Just Some Snapshots

We haven't done anything huge lately. Just life. So here's some snapshots of our daily stuff.

Hanging out on Mom's bed.

Madelyn loves to read.

Bath time is Lily's favorite!

Check out Madelyn's eyes!!!

Madelyn had her first dance class today! She loved it. She says her teacher's name is Harry and she has boobs like me. Haha.

Lily wished she could go to dance. She had to hang out with me and the other moms in the waiting room. Not nearly as cool.

That's it.
