Vacation!

On Saturday Rory and I went on a mini vacation to Bend, OR. It's about 2 hours away from where we live. We started out the day by hiking to Tumalo Falls. It fit in nicely with our mini vacation since it was a mini hike. It's only 3 1/2 miles in to the falls. We didn't exactly hike on a trail on the way up.... we bushwacked along the waters edge.

Rory was especially excited about all the cool logs to mess around on.

After lots of scratches and branches to the face we made it to Tumalo Falls. It was worth it! They are beautiful!

We found a trail to hike on on the way back to the car so the hike down was a lot faster and less painful. We had a nice little picnic lunch and then headed to downtown Bend for some window shopping. On the way there we saw lots of cool art:

We just happened to be in Bend on the weekend when they have all their local resteraunts come out and cook for everyone. It was a fun little street fair with loooottss of yummy food, cool music, and even people walking on huge stilts. We saw a guy on a bike with the crew from Star Trek tatooed on his back. Haha. I tried to get a picture but he was too far away. After we walked around for a while Rory took me to a Thai resteraunt called Typhoon and it was awesome! I've been missing the Thai place in Rexburg so it was good to get some delicious Thai here. I recommend it if anyone's heading through Bend.

We're Still Alive!

We've been in Burns for two and a half weeks now and are busy and happy. We got the internet today so I thought I'd post some pictures of our home. We were pretty lucky to get it. The place we thought we were moving into ended up not really being ready for us. We found this out as we were standing on the doorstep with our horse trailer full of soaking wet belongings. Erg. So we went to the bishop's house and he remembered a couple in the ward that had moved but still had a house here for sale. They were very happy to let us rent it for a while and we moved in that day. It's a little three bedroom manufactured home on 20 acres of land. The picture's a little dark...

This is the view out our front door. On a clear day you can see the Steens mountains but it's been really rainy here lately.

Here's my kitchen. I love it! And so do my plants. They've been growing like crazy.

This is the horse that lives in the pasture next door. He's a very friendly horse. There's also a baby horse in the pasture next to his.

And here's our kitty. She sort of came with the house. The previous owners say she wasn't theirs but she was there the day we moved in and hasn't left. I think she must live under the shed in the backyard. She's a funny little cat. She was pretty wary of us for a while but she's warmed up. It might be because Rory tripped over her while we were moving in. She wasn't too happy about that.
