O'Connors + Johnsons = Hikers

Yep, we went on a hike. A six day backpacking sort of hike. Don't worry, six days on the trail only equals four days without a shower. Not too shabby.

We got a little lost the first day. But only for a minute. We ended up on a huge drop off without the trail. So we had to go back. By the way, these pictures aren't in any sort of chronological order because I'm a lazy bum. I just picked out some of my favorites.

Rory sliding around on our way to Alaska Basin.

Poor Laura got turned into a trail marker. She had to stay there. At least until she got up.

We stayed in Alaska Basin one night and found a really great campsite and set up camp.... but then Rory found an even greater camp site so we moved. It was sort of pioneer-y.

Sam ate bird poo. Well, actually he just put on a lot of my spf chapstick but still...

Swimming in the Tetons

While we were in Alaska Basin we (Sam and I) decided to jump in the lake we were camping by. Mirror Lake that is. Once we did it everyone saw how freezing cold we were and decided to do it too! It was actually really fun.

Laura jumps in.

Rory jumped in and froze.

Even mom jumped in although it took a little encouragement. Then she jumped in twice more.

Here I am contemplating the jump. At this point most people would say 'don't do it! It's not worth it!' but for some reason all I heard was 'do it! do it! do it!'.

And here's the happy Sam. He was the bravest and jumped off the rocks first.

More Teton Pictures

This is us looking off the edge of Death Canyon Shelf. It's a gorgeous view.

And of course we did a little yoga in the flowers! Rory looks especially peaceful.

While most of us were off pondering the Death Canyon view, Rory was exploring rocks. Vigorously.

Rory and I got a cookbook called Lipsmackin Backpackin. Love it! We had a lot of yummy dinners on the hike because of that book.

And the best part! (Besides all the other best parts because the hike was awesome!) Getting back to flushing toilets!!
