July the Fourth

We walked down to watch the 4th of July parade this year. It was pretty fun. Madelyn especially liked all the motorcycles and horses.

We watched with our friends the Youngs. Kylie really liked Madelyn's wagon.

Her cute little patriotic outfit.

Rory was pretty excited about the fire truck.

In the evening we lit a few sparklers. We managed to not get any burned toes or poked out eyes. There were a few close calls.

Pete…. Hahahaha.

The sparklers were a hit I guess.

Happy Birthdays

Sam and Madelyn had their birthdays this weekend. Dad, Sam and Ian came down for a few days to celebrate. Sam's birthday request was to go see the Hill Air Force Base air show. Everyone had a great time, especially Madelyn. She couldn't get over how cool the planes were. She's still talking about it.

She was so good about wearing her earplugs and sunglasses!

That evening we did presents.

She actually enjoyed being sung to this year. Last year she cried.

Sam wishes he'd gotten a cute dress for his birthday.

Rory thought the card was pretty cool.

Undies!!

She was so cute in her new birthday dress. She showed it off to everyone at church.

Girl Hike

Last weekend we took a girl hike up Timp! It was mostly fun. The wildflowers were all in bloom and it was gorgeous!

Happy hikers starting out.

Having a lunch break.

Having a not lunch break.

Having a snow break…. there were lots of breaks. And lots of snow.

View from the top snowfield. We didn't actually make it to the top of the mountain because of all the snow. I don't think there was this much snow last year when Rory and I hiked Timp.

Look how happy they are to be hiking!

Up Rock Canyon

We took Pete and Candace and Laura rock climbing last weekend. Laura had never climbed on real rocks before. We went in the morning so it was lovely and shady and not too hot.

Pete shoving his feet into Rory's shoes. He actually got bruises from his feet being so squished! I'm impressed he did the whole route without crying.

The happy belayer.

Everyone was so sweet to Madelyn. She's lucky to have such loving aunts and uncles.

Laura on her way up.

Candace wore Rory's shoes without getting bruises.

She scrambled right up the wall.

Memorial Weekend

We went up to Rexburg for Memorial weekend. On Saturday everyone headed over to Jackson Hole to watch the parade. Madelyn thought it was sort of cool.

Ian being totally happy to be at the parade and having his picture taken.

Wild Man!

Heckling the performers.

Madelyn was not a fan of the loud sirens. She clung like a monkey to Laura for most of the parade.

After the parade we went to Teton National Park for a picnic. Unfortunately there was still lots of snow on the ground so we picnicked in the parking lot.

Trying to get a snowball through the frisbee. I think it turned into trying to get a snowball on Sam's head.

Madelyn wasn't too sure about the whole snow thing. It was fun until she realized it was making her hands reaaallly cold.

Dad enjoying the family time.

Typical Rory. Come to think of it, typical Laura too.

We ended up taking a very wee walk over to String Lake and sticking our toes in. It was very cold but Teeny thought it was great. Until she had to ride in the car with wet pants.

We also had Moo's ice cream while we were at Jackson!

A Small Hike

We took Madelyn up to Bridal Veil Falls last weekend. She hiked the whole thing by herself! What a trooper.

Tracy Aviary

We checked out the Tracy Aviary this weekend. We've been before but Madelyn was too small to care. She cared this time! Everything was exciting and she ran all over the place.

Ruddy Ducks.

Madelyn especially loved the free roaming peacocks. They were pretty chill about her jumping around and squealing at them.

Jolene brought her friend Sue down with her. It was fun to meet her!
